New Research Shows Hemp Oil Can Improve Your Cholesterol Levels

A new study is showing some promising health impacts from test groups that showed positive impacts on their HDL levels when consuming hemp oil. According to the results of the study conducted at The Center for Applied Health Sciences in Ohio and Lindenwood University in Missouri, consuming oil extract from hemp can boost “good cholesterol” levels.

The purpose of the study was to determine the health effects and impacts of CBD-containing hemp oil extracts on things such as stress resilience, mood, body composition and perceived recovery. The double-blind research study was conducted on sixty-five healthy but overweight men and women. Some participants consumed hemp oil extract while others ingested placebos each day for six weeks while they maintained their regular life activities, exercise patterns and diets.

The study yielded some interesting results!

The results of the study showed significantly improved HDL cholesterol levels in the hemp oil extract participant group. HDL stands for “high-density lipoprotein” and is recognized by the medical community as being “good cholesterol” since it plays a helpful role in removing other “bad” forms of cholesterol from the bloodstream. According to the Mayo Clinic, HDL is associated with a lower risk of heart disease. The researchers reported that there were no other significant interactions observed within either of the study groups.

In the study conclusions, the researches stated that “Hemp supplementation improved HDL cholesterol, tended to support psychometric measures of perceived sleep, stress response, and perceived life pleasure and was well tolerated with no clinically relevant safety concerns”.

The researches also added that “Overall, these findings suggest that supplementation with this hemp extract at the provided dosage in the men and women studied exhibited improvements in HDL cholesterol, tended to support psychometric measures of perceived sleep quantity and stress response, perceived life pleasure, and is well tolerated in healthy human subjects,”.

Even though CBD is now more commercially viable in Canada, there is still relatively little research on CBD and hemp extract oils in relation to health benefits and impacts. Fortunately, companies such as ValidCare are developing several research projects and studies to fill in some of the current gaps that exist in this area. In particular, some of these companies aim to study the impacts on the liver. All of the upcoming research can help lead to rules and regulations by the FDA and other governing bodies to provide a clearer picture of the dosages, health impacts and benefits about CBD oil. While this is unchartered territory for some, the results from studies such as this are promising and help to raise awareness about the health benefits of hemp extract and CBD products.
